How to Write a Bibliography

How to Write a Bibliography, by How To Write Guide

No matter where you are from and no matter where you are studying and no matter at what level of education you are at, you are going to have to write a bibliography. Bibliographies are necessary in education because they document the sources that you used in order to obtain your information. They serve particularly well to avoid cases of plagiarism because the sources are listed and if you are proving a point or a case you have a place to refer back to so that the readers know that you are not inventing this proof that you have stated.

How to Write a Bibliography

There are many formats for bibliographies and depending what your teacher or professor specify, you should follow those guidelines. However, so that you have an idea how a simple bibliography works follow the following steps below:

When organizing the list of resources, put them in alphabetical order with the author’s last name first and followed by the first name.
You should underline all books and magazines.
You should put quotation marks around the titles of magazine articles.
Afterwards, write down the city of publication, the publisher’s name and the copyright date.
Next to the year of copyright, site the pages that you used as sources in your paper.
The authors’ names should be aligned against the left margin. Each reference that you use should be indented to the right just a little bit.
The bibliography should be the last page of your paper.
Edit your bibliography.
